A few months ago I decided to attend FOSDEM 2009, a free open source conference in Brussels, just 150 kilometers from my home in Rotterdam.
A few weeks later I bumped into a call for participation on Lenz Grimmer’s blog. I signed up, thinking I could spare a few hours and it would be fun to tell other people about this product I have come to care so much about.
After that, I heard a whole lot of nothin’… until i found an email from Lenz in my inbox this week explaining he mistyped my email address. Mistakes happen to the best of us, and it can take a while to find out about something like that.
Anyways, take a look at the schedule for the project stand at FOSDEM he posted. As you can see, we need some more help, even if you can only help out for a few hours or so. Go to this signup page if you would like to help us.
Besides that, there is something I would like to ask your opinion about. At the top of the project stand information page, you can see the list of proposed stand activities. My question is about this one in particular:
Demo latest versions of various MySQL-related tools and applications
What kind of tools and applications would you like to see there? Which kind of tools would be interesting enough to show the average interested FOSDEM visitor? What kind of other information would you like to see at a project stand like this one at a conference like FOSDEM? Any suggestions are welcome in the comments..

In depth Mysql Proxy
Johan, I will actually give a talk about MySQL HA solutions in the main FOSDEM conference track: http://fosdem.org/2009/schedule/events/mysql_ha
It will take place on Sunday, 11:00 and will hopefully give you some answers to your questions. I (and other MySQLers) will also be available for discussion on our project desk.
