I finally received confirmation that I’m attending the MySQL Conference 2009, yay! I didn’t really dive deep into all the conference has to offer just because I didn’t want to get too excited and then not be able to go. Now that I do know I’m going, I’m full on with excitement and thought I would share that excitement here
Now, one of the next things to do is figure out which sessions I want to attend. With the 4 days of the MySQL conference filled to the brim with so many interesting sessions, it is proving very difficult to decide which ones I want to attend. I wanna see them all! I made a first selection, but have no doubt that there will be a few more iterations before I make the final selection ![]()
I’ll post it here when I have narrowed it down a bit more. On a sidenote: the option to make your own personal schedule is pretty neat: http://en.oreilly.com/mysql2009/public/schedule/grid
Of course, there is also the percona performance conference that will have some very interesting sessions. I feel that it is almost a shame that they decided to do it the exact same days, instead of the adjacent days. It is free though, so that makes it interesting for the unfortunate amongst us that cannot afford the pretty high price for the official MySQL conference. More info here: http://conferences.percona.com/
On that topic: it is interesting to come to the conference even if you cannot afford the price for the full pass. You can register for a conference hall-only pass for as little as 25$ and that gets you entrance to the MySQL camp and a bunch of other things that will still be very interesting. Take a look at the price list here: https://en.oreilly.com/mysql2009/public/register
Then, besides the sessions there is another thing that makes going to the conference so interesting: you can get any of the MySQL certificate exams on-site for 25$ instead of the normal 200$ per certficate: http://en.oreilly.com/mysql2009/public/content/get-certified
Any tips for sessions I definitely need to attend (or the ones you find most interesting) are more then welcome in the comments!
